LMS receiving grant for outdoor garden
Outdoor Garden and Classroom: Coming Soon!

Spring is just around the corner, and thanks to a grant sponsored by the Alumni Association, Mrs. Karin Wallace, ELA Teacher at Ladue Middle School, and her Planet Protectors student group will soon be bringing an outdoor garden and classroom to life at LMS.

The outdoor classroom will be a dynamic learning space where students can engage with nature, fostering creativity, collaboration, and environmental stewardship. Science classes will use the space for hands-on lessons in physical, life, and earth sciences, while FACS classes can cultivate vegetables and herbs tied to cultural and historical studies. ELA students will benefit from nature-inspired writing exercises, and sensory elements will provide valuable support for students with sensory processing needs. Additionally, fine arts classes can utilize the space for nature photography and painting.

2025 Science Fair

In an effort to provide STEM opportunities to all students, the district has registered all seven buildings for the St. Louis Regional Science Fair. While your child’s building does not have an in-person fair, any child is able to submit a project. Participation in the 2025 Science Fair is completely optional with all of the work being completed at home.

If your child is interested in participating, please submit a project plan through this Google Form by Tuesday, March 11. Dr. McColgan or Dr. Crabtree will respond with an approval by Thursday, March 13. Each student must register their project on the St. Louis Science Fair website by April 1. Projects must be uploaded by 12 p.m. on April 14. See this packet for more information.

If you have any question, please reach out to:

Dr. Laila Crabtree, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction, or Dr. Kevin McColgan, STEM Coordinator.

LHWHSPA Parent Education Presents: Tips and Advice for Incoming Freshman Parents

Save the Date! Tuesday, March 25th 7:00 p.m., Teleconference Room in LHWHS

How can I help my Freshman thrive in highschool? What is a blue day? How can my Freshman get involved at the high school and still balance their school work?

Freshman parents, do you have questions about upcoming freshman year and don't know who to ask? Are you a seasoned parent but still feel out of the loop or want to meet other parents? Join the Ladue Horton Watkins High School Parent Association on Tuesday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Teleconference room to learn from Mr. Mike Tarpey, Class of 2029 principal, upper class students, current freshman students and parents who've been around the block. Bring your questions! Contact Katie Ciorba for more information.

Photos Needed for 8th Grade Slideshow

8th grade parents: We'd like your help contributing photos for a slideshow that will be used at the 8th grade end of year party on May 3rd. We're looking for good quality photos of 8th Grade LMS kids, together, doing anything and everything inside and outside of school (please keep them clean and appropriate). We welcome photos and video clips from elementary school through 8th grade. Our goal is for every LMS 8th grader to be included in this slideshow. We prefer photos that have more than one student, if possible.

Please upload all photos/videos by March 14 to this Google Drive folder. Contact Cara Kopec at (217) 741-6912 if you have questions or issues submitting photos.

We will make the final video slideshow available digitally to all 8th grade families at the end of the school year.

Donate to the 8th Grade Celebration Fund

8th grade for LMS students is a special one filled with memorable events throughout the year, involving opportunities for leadership, academics, friends and fun. The year culminates with an end-of-year celebration on May 3rd, featuring rides, games, DJ, and lots of food for our graduates – and a near 100% attendance rate. The event is free for students, paid for by fundraisers and donations through the LMSPA.
