LMS receiving grant for outdoor garden and classroom
Outdoor Garden and Classroom: Coming Soon!

Spring is just around the corner, and thanks to a grant sponsored by the Alumni Association, Mrs. Karin Wallace, ELA Teacher at Ladue Middle School, and her Planet Protectors student group will soon be bringing an outdoor garden and classroom to life at LMS.

The outdoor classroom will be a dynamic learning space where students can engage with nature, fostering creativity, collaboration, and environmental stewardship. Science classes will use the space for hands-on lessons in physical, life, and earth sciences, while FACS classes can cultivate vegetables and herbs tied to cultural and historical studies. ELA students will benefit from nature-inspired writing exercises, and sensory elements will provide valuable support for students with sensory processing needs. Additionally, fine arts classes can utilize the space for nature photography and painting.

2025 Science Fair

In an effort to provide STEM opportunities to all students, the district has registered all seven buildings for the St. Louis Regional Science Fair. While your child’s building does not have an in-person fair, any child is able to submit a project. Participation in the 2025 Science Fair is completely optional with all of the work being completed at home.

If your child is interested in participating, please submit a project plan through this Google Form by Tuesday, March 11. Dr. McColgan or Dr. Crabtree will respond with an approval by Thursday, March 13.

Each student must also register their project on the St. Louis Science Fair Website. by April 1. Projects must be uploaded by 12 p.m. on April 14. See this packet for more information.

If you have any questions, please reach to:

Dr. Laila Crabtree, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction, or Dr. Kevin McColgan, STEM Coordinator.
