Interactive Discussion on Navigating Middle School Emotions: What We Can Learn from Inside Out 2

Middle school is a stage of life when students experience new, big emotions. How does your student handle the big changes and new emotions? How can we, as parents and guardians, support our children?

Inside Out 2 explores the complexities of human emotions – all while addressing the challenges of growing up. Join us on Wednesday, February 26 from 6:00-7:30 pm at the LMS gym as we participate in an interactive discussion, led by Dr. Thompson and LMS counselors. We will learn ways to effectively navigate and embrace new emotions, regardless of what stage of life we are in.

Current 6th grade students and their parents/guardians are invited to come learn together. Please RSVP here to attend.

Girls field hockey, on the other hand, needs more participants! If your daughter is interested in playing Field Hockey, please complete the Google Form below:

8th Grade Sports Signup and Parents Permission Form

Your child MUST have a physical on file with Nurse Williams at LMS in order to participate. Physicals are valid for 2 full years (730 days).

Photos Needed for 8th Grade Slideshow

8th grade parents: We'd like your help contributing photos for a slideshow that will be used at the 8th grade end of year party on May 3rd. We're looking for good quality photos of 8th Grade LMS kids, together, doing anything and everything inside and outside of school (please keep them clean and appropriate). We welcome photos and video clips from elementary school through 8th grade. Our goal is for every LMS 8th grader to be included in this slideshow. We prefer photos that have more than one student, if possible.

Please upload all photos/videos by March 14 to this Google Drive folder. Contact Cara Kopec at (217) 741-6912 if you have questions or issues submitting photos.

We will make the final video slideshow available digitally to all 8th grade families at the end of the school year.

Donate to the 8th Grade Celebration Fund

8th grade for LMS students is a special one filled with memorable events throughout the year, involving opportunities for leadership, academics, friends and fun. The year culminates with an end-of-year celebration on May 3rd, featuring rides, games, DJ, and lots of food for our graduates – and a near 100% attendance rate. The event is free for students, paid for by fundraisers and donations through the LMSPA.

Stay in the Loop or Look Ahead!

Keep up with everything we have planned to cap off your student's time at LMS by frequently checking the Parents' Guide to 8th Grade at LMS webpage. This one-stop resource offers the latest updates on upcoming 8th grade-specific events and celebrations, including their Six Flags trip, boat races at LHWHS, the 8th grade party, and, most importantly, their promotion ceremony (graduation).
