8th graders in the news!

2024 All-Suburban Honors Orchestra to Play this Weekend at LHWHS

Thirteen students representing Ladue Middle School were recently selected to the St. Louis All-Suburban Middle School Honor Orchestra (for 7th and 8th graders) and Sixth-Grade Honor Orchestra. Seventh and eighth grade students participated in auditions in October, while students are nominated for the sixth-grade orchestra by their orchestra teacher. Both Honor Orchestras have rehearsed with students from across the region and will perform a concert at Ladue Horton Watkins High School this Saturday, January 11.

We want to give a shout out to 8th graders who are doing amazing things this year! The only requirement is that what they are involved with is a group effort - as we want to be able to mention as many students as possible in the limited number of newsletters we release! LMSPA UPDATES

9th Grade Curriculum Presentation and Fair

LHWHS will host a Curriculum Fair on Tuesday, January 14 from 5:45-8:00 p.m. at LHWHS. This event provides students and families with an opportunity to meet some of our teachers and learn more about the wide variety of courses we offer.

During the fair, counselors, administrators, and department chairs will host a meeting from 5:45 - 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) for incoming 9th grade families to share important information about the scheduling process and available course offerings.

What Parents Really Want to Know about High School
A Candid Parent Q & A Panel, hosted by the LMSPA

Tuesday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the LMS Loft (cafeteria)

Featuring an insightful panel, comprised of current high school parents, and representing a wide variety of student interests. This is your chance to learn about what makes for a successful, enriching high school experience – with tips from parents currently in the trenches.

Change Wars Are Coming

WHAT: 8th Grade tradition—competition to see who can bring in the most change!

WHO: Pioneers vs Patriots vs Trailblazers

WHY: Change & BILL$$ brought in will be put toward the special 8th Grade graduation party in May

WHEN: February 3-7

WHERE: Bring your change/bills/checks to LMS in a Ziplock bag

HOW: Donations in change, check or Venmo. If you write a check, please make it out to "LMSPA." These types of donations will still be given to your student's Science teacher. Please note the donation is for Change Wars and your student's team.

REWARD: Team bragging rights and DUNKIN' DONUTS for winning team!

New Ladue Schools Board Advisory Committee

LMS Parents and guardians - there is a new committee that you might be interested in! Do you have a child with an IEP? We need you!

The Ladue Special School District Parent Advisory Committee is a group of parents committed to collaboration and partnership for student success. This group meets quarterly to provide resources to families on topics of interest related to special education and provides a space for dialogue and supportive collaboration.

Our next meeting is January 28 at 6 p.m. at Ladue High School.
